THE
CHRISTENSEN CONNECTION
Our Photos
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I've been hearing it for a year. Change the pictures. Fine, here are the pics from the Bret and Brenda whirl wind tour of Europe starting in Paris May 11-15, 2009...

...then we went south to Florence and all of that lovely food May 15-17, 2009
(where we started our twice daily dose of gelato, pasta, and expensive tap water)

...then we went a little further south via train to Rome May 17-20, 2009
(good thing Bret brought along his "most fashionable shades in all of Rome")

...then off up North we went to Austria and the city they call Vienna May 20-22, 2009...
(and a lot more ice cream which we continued to eat twice a day),

...then over to Mozartland (aka Salzburg) May 22-23, 2009...
(where we stopped eating ice cream (or at least slowed down) and started eating Wienersnitzel, pork, and sourkraut)

...then just outside of Salzburg to the Eagle's Nest, May 24, 2009...
(The Eagle's Nest was a birthday present to Hitler. It's this fortress on top of a mountain which is only accessable via a cramped elevator - which is actually funny because Hitler was claustraphopic and afraid of heights so he went there maybe twice...?!)

...then up North a little bit to Dauchau, May 24, 2009...
(Which was a concentration camp. The thing is, having studied a little bit about WW II and the nazis thing - looking at Dauchau and seeing how anal the germans were - it all made sense. I mean, no where else could the concentration camps have been done than in Germany and by the Germans.
I mean, if there is a law - it's against the law. If there isn't a law, it's against the law.)

...then we went north up the Romantic Road to Schwangau and the land of the swan, May 24-25, 2009...
(see, there was this guy who was really into Wagner operas and he built this castle and decorated the insides with images from Wagner's operas - and then he went crazy and killed himself which is entirely possible - I mean, try listening to the Ring Operas and not want to go a little nutsy yourself!)

...then we went more north to Rothenburg, May 25-26, 2009...
(which, apparently, is the last best medieval town left in Europe - at least that's what the locals say)

...then we went more north to Frankenstein's Castle, a drive on the autobaun, over to Frankfurt (and Linda's pad), and then off to home sweet home, May 26-27, 2009...
(I'll tell you, it was a great trip - but there's nothing like sleeping in your own bed after two weeks in those tiny Euorpean bedrooms)
